Our Story
Straw, Transformed Into Timeless Luxury
Strawmastery was founded on a simple belief — that one of the world's oldest decorative crafts deserved a place in the modern luxury home. Straw marquetry, once reserved for royal courts and grand European interiors, is an art form where individual strands of natural straw are split, dyed, and hand-laid strand by strand to form intricate geometric patterns of extraordinary depth and light.
From our studio in Gurugram, our artisans dedicate weeks — sometimes months — to a single cabinet, mirror or table, splitting straw by hand and arranging it with the precision of fine marquetry, panel by panel, until the natural grain catches the light like nothing else.
Today, Strawmastery brings this rare craft into cabinets, tables, mirrors, panels, frames, lamps and boxes — each piece custom-made for discerning homes and interiors across India, built on solid hardwood and finished with brass, iron and fine glass.
Our Process
How Every Piece Is Made
From raw straw to finished masterpiece — every Strawmastery piece passes through four stages of meticulous, hand-led craftsmanship.
Selecting & Splitting
Natural straw is sourced, sorted by quality, and split by hand into fine strands ready for dyeing and shaping.
Dyeing & Flattening
Strands are dyed in rich natural tones and flattened to a uniform thickness, ready to be laid into pattern.
Hand-Laying the Pattern
Each strand is individually placed, strand by strand, to build sunburst, chevron, parquetry and geometric designs.
Finishing & Assembly
Panels are sealed, polished and mounted onto solid hardwood frames with hand-finished brass and iron hardware.

Strawmastery's workshop brings together artisans trained in straw marquetry — a discipline passed down through generations and now rarely practised. Every craftsman in our studio has dedicated years to mastering the precision this art demands.
We work exclusively with solid hardwoods, natural straw and fine hardware, refusing shortcuts that compromise the integrity of the finished piece. The result is furniture and decor that ages beautifully and is built to be passed down.
Authenticity
We use only genuine straw marquetry techniques — no printed or synthetic imitations. Every grain you see is real natural straw.
